My practice speaks to issues of environmental preservation and sustainable ecologies. I use temporary and permanent installations to explore the relationship between people and nature, looking at the role of human intervention and the impact on fragile ecologies. My travels to Denmark, Japan and Korea and living in regional and urban Australian communities have informed my processes, materials and content in my work.
Natural materials that have attained special cultural significance for particular cultural groups inspire the form of and motif of each ephemeral installation that I produce. For this project I will use locally sourced clay, ochre and ilmenite to make small clay vessels. Each will contain found earth minerals that will return to the earth as the clay vessels biodegrade.
